We help writers and filmmakers find publishers, agents, and film industry contacts.
How long is a query letter?
What kind of stats do you have about the effectiveness of sending an email?
How soon can I expect a response?
Why can’t I send my own queries?
But we’ve already gotten the contact and company information and used keywords to indicate their main areas of interest. We also spend several days each month updating the databases, based on the latest deals for publishers, agents, and producers, plus we buy the latest books and subscription services to keep the databases up to date. Additionally, we help you write an effective query letter, and even some established writers need help with this. That’s why we review all the letters before they go out and make suggestions or write the letters for clients.

How do I know who you contact?

How do I know if I have a good letter or what is needed to write one?
I’m a new writer and don’t know if any of the larger publishers or agents will be interested in my work?

Is it better to find an agent or pitch my book directly to a publisher?
Do you do any screening for the queries you send out? And what if you get a project that sounds terrible?
How can your scattershot approach to numerous agents, editors, or producers work?

I’m a member of a writers’ group and I can get referrals from other members. Why would I need your service?
How It Works
Writing your Query Letter
It all starts with your query letter, once you decide on your target audience and place your order. We have guidelines for writing your letter, or we can write it for you. If you write your own letter we review it and make any suggestions for improvement. Even if you have written your own letter, we encourage you to follow our guidelines, since we have a proven record of success after 14 years in the business, so we know what works.
The key is to have a strong subject line and keep your letter short and to the point. Start with a short overview of your book or script, write two or three paragraphs for a short synopsis, include a brief bio and any promotional material about you or your book or script, and end with a call for action — asking you to send them more information if interested.
We’ll do a final review and polish, including suggesting a subject line if you don’t have one, which is included in the service — though if you need a more extensive rewrite, we’ll tell you that, too. Once you sign up for our service, you get a link to a sample template you can use as a guide to create your own query letter.
Sending Out your Query Letter
Once your query is ready, we send it out to your targeted audience using our special software, which sends out the letter from your own email to each individual contact by name. So any responses come directly to you.
After we send your query, you get a report listing the companies and contacts to whom we have sent your email.
Getting Responses
Typically, you will get responses in one to two days, sometimes in hours. Now you can follow-up from there with any materials, such has your book proposal, sample chapters, synopsis, complete script, or whatever else is requested.
The number of responses and amount of interest depends on your project. Generally, we have found that almost everyone gets some responses; many get around 10-20 responses, and a few clients have gotten 50 or more and scored big advances.
On average, about 70% of our clients have gotten requests for more information, and about a third have gotten deals with publishers, agents, or film producers. We have gotten over 260 testimonials for success from about 1000 clients in our first 12 years in business. And the company owner, Gini Graham Scott, has sold two dozen of her own books to publishers and gotten options on some of her film projects from producers. So we know the system works.
Why the System Works so Well
It might take you 20-40 hours and hundreds of dollars in subscription services and membership to put together a database, plus the time to send out your query individually. But we have special software and a dedicated mail server that enables us to do this for you very quickly and effectively.
Keep Us Posted on Your Results and Write a Testimonial If You Like What We Do!
Please let us know about your responses and how things are going after we send out an email for you. If you have had success in getting good responses, or better yet a deal for your book, script, or film, let us know, and we’d love to get a testimonial from you about your success.
